BHQ Deuteronomy:
—prepared by Carmel McCarthy

"The generation accustomed to BHQ's predecessor, the Biblia Hebraica Stuttgartensia (or BHS), will notice some changes immediately. The most obvious difference on a page of text is that the Masorah Magna is cited in full directly below the Hebrew text itself. In BHS this remained a series of cryptic 'Mm' numbers which referred readers to a separate volume. Gone, too, are the latinate abbreviations accompanying textual variants, in favour of English terminology. As for the textual apparatus itself, BHS typically cited evidence for variants only, while BHQ first gives evidence in support of the lemma before citing evidence for variant readings."
