Enter the world of Elsie Dinsmore! Christian values, innocent romance, family fun, and lasting lessons have captivated generations of girls eager to follow Elsie’s life from childhood to motherhood and beyond.
Elsie and Her Loved Ones, Book 27: Following a winter’s stay at Viamede in Louisiana, Elsie and her family travel over the Rocky Mountains to California. Returning to her childhood home, Crag Cottage, Evelyn gives birth to a daughter, and Grandma Elsie is now great-grandmother to little Mary Raymond. Following a round of family gatherings in honor of the new baby and her proud parents, Max and Evelyn, Ned Raymond becomes very ill. Dr. Harold Travilla saves his life, and Harold and Gracie’s wedding date is finally set for New Year’s Day.
Martha Finley (1828–1909), the daughter of a Presbyterian minister, was a school teacher and author of numerous articles, essays, and books, the most well-known being the 28 volumes of her Elsie Dinsmore series. Turning to writing stories for young people as a means of supporting herself after a serious injury, Finley sold more books than any other children’s author of her day, with the exception of Louisa May Alcott.
